What does it mean to be an Observer?

An Observer is a Participant’s friend or family member. Observers participate in all aspects of the program minus the in-water interaction. During the interaction, you can cheer on the Participants and take photos. The Observers stay in the stands and have no contact with the dolphins. The fee includes complimentary admission to the park, so you can see the rest of the shows and exhibits, as well. Observers under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Observers will get to snorkel on the reef if they want to, otherwise the observer can just relax on the boat.

A bathing suit or swimming attire is required. You can rely on the facility to provide the following: Showers and changing room. Wetsuits can be rented. All jewellery must be removed prior to entering the water.

Do have lockers to store my belongings?

No lockers are available. You will bring your belongings with you and it will be in a safe area by your animal interaction and snorkel boat. Anything highly valuable you should leave at home or in your hotel room.

What about taking photographs with the Dolphins during my session?

Yes, there are professional staff photographers taking photographs or video of you and your dolphin session. You can purchase these photographs after your session. Prices range from $40 and up, depending on how many photographs you purchase. You can not take a regular camera into the water with you during your dolphin session. If you do have a family or a friend come with you as an observer, they can take photographs of you during your session.

What kind of pools do the animals live in at the Dolphin facility?

The animals live in natural salt-water lagoons. The water is pumped in from the Atlantic Ocean.

How big is the lagoon?

The lagoon is three acres in size with an average depth of 15 to 20 feet. The rest of the property is about 17 acres in size and rich with tropical foliage and orchids.

Do you have a restaurant on the property?

A snack bar/grill is available and serves a variety of delicious foods at the dolphin facility.

Can I bring my own masks fins and snorkels?

Yes, you can use it during your dolphin program and private facility beach. Water shoes may be worn instead of fins for parts of the ray and sea lion swim, but we do not provide these so bring your own. You will get a mask, snorkel and fins for the snorkel trip if you don’t bring your own equipment.

Do we have to pay extra entrance and parking fees?

No. There are no extra entrance or parking fees when snorkelling or the dolphin program.

Can handicapped individuals participate?

While this dolphin program does accept handicapped individuals, this program is not a Dolphin Therapy session. This program is primarily recreational.

Are glasses/contacts permitted in the water?

Contact lenses can be worn. Prescription glasses with clear lenses will be permitted only if they are needed but they cannot be removed at anytime during the session.

Refunds / Cancellations and Changes:

All cancellations must be received by Dolphin World / Keys Adventure Tours, Inc. in writing by email or regular mail.

A 10% service charge will apply per person for any cancellations prior 31 days of activity date.
A 50% service charge will apply per person for any cancellations within 30 – 15 day period prior activity date.
A 75% service charge will apply per person for any cancellations within 14 – 8 day period prior activity date.
Prior 8 days of your reservation date, you may change your reservation to a gift certificate, where you would not incur any penalties except the change fee. This gift certificate will be good for 1 year from the date of the certificate.
NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN TO ANY ACTIVITY PARTICIPANTS who cancel within the 7 day period, does not show up, are late for scheduled program(s). Frequently Asked Questions

Does your program go on Rain or Shine?
The Snorkel trip may be cancelled due to weather. In the case the snorkel trip is cancelled, you will be refunded or you can reschedule.

How long is the trip?
It’s a 2.5-hour outing with about 1.5 hours of in-water snorkeling at the reef.

Where do we snorkel?
Shallow inner reefs off Key Largo inside the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary near John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park; the captain picks the best site for the day’s conditions.

Is this good for beginners and kids?
Yes—it’s designed for first-timers, families, and kids, with a friendly crew, calm sites, and required flotation vests.

What’s included in the price?
Mask, fins, and life vest are included. A personal snorkel mouthpiece is $15 extra (or bring your own).

Can I bring my own gear or a prescription mask?
Absolutely—clean, well-fitting personal gear (including prescription masks) is welcome. Also you can purchase a snorkel from your local sporting goods store.

What should I bring?
Swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, water/snacks, and a payment method for rentals/gratuities; optional rash guard or sun hat for comfort.

Do you give instruction?
Yes—crew provide a safety briefing, gear fitting, and basic snorkeling tips, with in-water guidance as needed.

What if the weather or visibility isn’t great?
The captain selects the most protected site; if conditions are unsafe, trips may be rescheduled or refunded per the operator’s policy.

I get seasick—any tips?
Consider motion-relief measures and eat lightly; sit near the center of the boat and look at the horizon. (Ask at check-in about shaded seating and onboard amenities.)

How close is it to the Islamorada Dolphin Swim, and is parking available?
The dolphin program in Islamorada is about 30 minutes away by car, and there’s free all-day parking at the snorkel departure.

The layout of the park and the thoughtful staggering of the show times were particularly impressive. This allowed us to enjoy all the presentations at a relaxed pace, without ever feeling rushed. As someone who has recently undergone two knee replacements, I was pleasantly surprised and very grateful for how accessible and manageable the park was to navigate. It was not at all strenuous, which allowed me to fully immerse myself in the experience without any discomfort.

One of the absolute highlights of our day was the "Swim with the Dolphins" experience in the deeper water. The staff overseeing this program were incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and continued to be just as friendly and accommodating as everyone else we encountered. Again, I found this activity to be perfectly manageable despite my recent surgeries, which speaks volumes about its thoughtful execution.

Beyond the fantastic guest experience, what truly resonated with us was the palpable kindness and care shown towards all the animals. It is evident that the well-being of your residents is a top priority. Learning about your commitment to rescue and rehabilitation for animals that cannot care for themselves further solidified our appreciation for Theater of the Sea's mission.

The interaction and swimming with the dolphins was just so mesmerizing. I did not think twice, no hesitation at all.  The dolphin show was out of this world.  The trainers do an amazing job. The people who work there truly love these dolphins. I read a couple of reviews before I booked because I wanted to make sure it would be worth it, it is. I had seen where someone had mentioned the time they got to spend with the dolphins, I can only assume they chose a different package than I chose because, we had plenty of time with them and each person in the group got a chance with them. The only issue I had was the gift shop. I wanted to get a sticker with the dolphins that I got to swim with, but unfortunately they are the popular dolphins and no stickers were available. If anyone on staff sees this, I'd pay for these stickers when they come in if it would be possible to send them to me (I can provide the dates I was there if that would help). 😊

Overall a great experience. I would recommend this to anyone; Adults & Kids (age appropriate of course).
